About Us

Procurement. Compliance. Sustainability.

The Organisation

Verdant Supply and Governance Limited is a procurement outsourcing and advisory firm registered in the Federal Republic of Nigeria (CAC RC9506611). We provide specialist procurement management, compliance and governance, and sustainability advisory services to institutional clients operating within donor-funded and development finance frameworks across West Africa.

Our work sits at the intersection of technical procurement practice and institutional accountability — where the quality of a process, the completeness of a document trail, and the integrity of a vendor relationship are not administrative details, but the difference between a project that delivers and one that unravels under scrutiny.

How We Were Founded

“Verdant was not founded to fill a gap on a business plan. It was founded because the gap was impossible to ignore.”

Over four years of managing procurement for donor-funded projects across West Africa, a pattern became clear. The technical knowledge required to run compliant processes was available, but unevenly distributed. Large implementing organisations had institutional memory. Smaller partners and NGOs navigated complex donor rules under-resourced, precisely when compliance failures carry the heaviest consequences.

Simultaneously, the advisory market was fragmented. International consultancies lacked regional specificity, while local firms lacked donor-financed technical depth. The organisation that combined both largely did not exist in the accessible form the sector needed.

Verdant was formed to be that organisation.

Chiedozie C. Ojukwu

Verdant was founded by Chiedozie C. Ojukwu, a procurement professional, governance practitioner, and institutional development specialist with over four years of direct, hands-on experience managing donor-funded procurement across the West African development sector.

Audit Compliance

Prior to founding Verdant, Chiedozie managed procurement operations across a portfolio of donor-financed projects, spanning some of the region’s most significant development programmes: the SYMUF programme (AfDB/FAPA), HD4A, IFAD YABH, Mastercard Foundation (IITA), and FAO West Africa.

He has managed procurement under the operational rules of the World Bank, AfDB, USAID, FCDO, the UN system, and the EU. He possesses not merely a theoretical knowledge of each framework, but a working command of how those rules are interpreted, applied, and evaluated in the field.

“The difference between knowing a donor’s procurement manual and knowing how that donor’s project officer applies it during a no-objection review is the difference between formal compliance and actual compliance. Chiedozie operates firmly in the latter register.”

Operating Model

Verdant operates as a lean, high-expertise, founder-led practice — a deliberate model that prioritises depth over scale. Core delivery is led directly by our principal consultant, supported by a network of vetted associate consultants across legal compliance, ESG, and renewable energy.

The person who scopes the work is the person who does the work.

Who We Serve

  • Project Management Units (PMUs) Providing expertise technically aligned to specific donor rules and practically adapted to the local environment.
  • NGOs & Civil Society Supporting local and international NGOs with embedded support or advisory guidance to meet donor conditions consistently.
  • DFIs & Donor Agencies Providing technical assistance, procurement assessments, and capacity building within broader programme designs.
  • Private Sector Advising companies in renewable energy, agribusiness, and infrastructure on ESG-aligned supply chain governance.

Geographic Focus

Headquartered in Nigeria, we operate extensively across West Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa. We bring direct market knowledge to engagements that demand both technical rigour and contextual intelligence.

What We Believe

We hold a set of convictions that shape how we work and what we build:

Compliance must be documented.

In donor-funded procurement, what happened matters less than what can be demonstrated. We are meticulous about documentation because it is the only durable evidence of process integrity.

Procurement is governance.

Decisions on who wins and through what mechanism determine where resources flow. We treat every procurement engagement as a governance matter, not a transactional one.

Sustainability belongs inside.

ESG commitments are only as real as operational procurement decisions. We embed sustainability criteria directly into specifications, assessments, and contracts.

Expertise should be accessible.

A lean, specialist external firm that delivers the standard of a well-resourced internal function — without the fixed cost — is a structural answer to a structural problem.

Our Commitment

Every engagement Verdant undertakes is backed by the same commitment: rigorous process, complete documentation, and outcomes that can withstand scrutiny from your donor, auditor, or board.

We do not offer templates for compliance. We offer the expertise, the discipline, and the institutional knowledge to actually achieve it.

Procurement. Compliance. Sustainability.
